Choose a service result
Build the smallest system that can keep its promise.
A dependable scope starts with the user and the operating condition, not a fashionable stack. A public website should make services understandable, load well on ordinary mobile connections, provide direct contact and leave the owner able to update it. An operational application should make status, responsibility, exceptions and recovery visible instead of moving confusion from a spreadsheet into a new screen.
Websites and service resources
Plan visitor questions, page ownership, accessibility, search visibility, analytics, publishing, security and the route from interest to a real conversation. If more than one language is needed, define who translates, who reviews local meaning, how versions stay aligned and what happens when only one version changes.
Operational software and automation
Useful scopes include intake, review queues, field records, approvals, customer histories, document preparation, notifications and controlled integrations. We document triggers, data, permissions, retries, alerts and a manual fallback. Offline-first or low-connectivity behavior is evaluated where the actual users require it; it is not promised automatically.
Human-supervised AI
AI may assist with approved-document search, classification, extraction, summarisation or drafting. The scope names the source material, test set, unacceptable result, human reviewer and non-AI fallback. Sensitive or high-impact decisions stay with an accountable person.
What a completed handoff contains
The owner receives the agreed code and accounts, deployment notes, data and vendor inventory, acceptance evidence, monitoring and backup instructions, renewal responsibilities, known limitations and a rollback path. The engagement boundary also identifies which matters require qualified local language, legal, tax, payment, accessibility or security review.
